In this livestream, I’ll be teaching Seul Ce Soir, a beautiful and melancholic French chanson swing ballad that’s on the official song list for Django in June this summer, where I’ll be teaching accordion. We’ll explore how to play this tune in a swing accordion style—whether you’re joining a gypsy jazz group or playing it as a solo piece.
I’ll show you elegant chord shapes and variations that work well on the accordion, how to craft tasteful accompaniment patterns, and how to bring out the beauty and depth of the melody. We’ll also talk about ways to improvise within the harmony, add expressive phrasing, and use the left hand creatively for groove and color.
