What: Livestream Every Tuesday
First Hour:
I'll be walking you through the amazingly fun and usually not too slow Gypsy Jazz standard "Joseph Joseph." This is one of the many songs that Django 'ragged up' or put into the jazz/swing feeling, the song's original title is 'Josel, Josel' and it's a Yiddish language song by Nellie Casman and Samuel Steinberg. Nellie Casman recorded the song in 1923.
Played by the pros, this song is lightning speed quick, but for newbys the song is usually a nice easy medium tempo swing song. The are not too many chords, and so it ends up on the list of commonly played jam session tunes, and tunes that are great for beginners.
Second Hour:
Book club, week 9 Recovering a Sense of Compassion. This should be a great one.
