About the event

Hi, I’m Dallas Vietty—accordion performer and educator based in Pennsylvania, USA. I’ve been teaching accordion online for over ten years, but one of the highlights of my year is getting to be on faculty at Django in June, the legendary Gypsy jazz music camp held each summer in Northampton, Massachusetts.

This week’s livestream is titled “Interviews, Reflections and Stories from Django in June Music Camp”, and I’ll be sharing my personal experiences from an unforgettable week of music, teaching, and community. As this year’s accordion instructor, I had the chance to work with incredible students and rub shoulders with some of the finest Gypsy jazz musicians from Europe and the U.S.—players who brought incredible artistry, insight, and energy to every corner of the camp.

I’ll share stories from the classroom and the late-night jam circles, talk about what makes Django in June such a powerful experience for musicians of all levels, and reflect on what I learned as both a teacher and a participant. With a little luck, I’ll also have some recorded interviews and perspectives from fellow faculty and campers to give you a broader taste of what this magical week is all about.

Whether you’re a returning camper, a first-timer, or someone dreaming of going one day, this livestream is a chance to soak up the inspiration and energy that comes from spending a week totally immersed in the music of Django.
